The Denver Broncos have some major offensive issues to address this offseason. Adding another running back to pair with RJ Harvey and also filling the tight end hole are two major issues to address.
But, beyond those additions, the Broncos also might be on the cusp of changing something else with Sean Payton's offense that would be foreign for the longtime head coach.
As Nick Kosmider of The Athletic notes, the Payton might make a major decision with the offense for the 2026 season, and that decision could be announced at the NFL Scouting Combine.

"Will Sean Payton, for the first time in his lengthy career as a head coach, let someone else call plays?" Kosmider writes. "... The combine represents Payton's first chance to address the curiosity around Denver's play-calling apparatus."
Not long after the AFC Championship loss, the Broncos changed offensive coordinators, hiring Davis Webb to be the new offensive coordinator.
He had a chance to join a new organization and become the play caller. But, instead, he stuck with the Broncos. It's not strange for there to be intrigue about whether he will call plays.
In Payton's head coaching career, which spans 18 seasons between the New Orleans Saints and the Broncos, he has not called plays.

But this situation with Webb has sparked questions about whether Payton will remain the play caller. It wouldn't be a major surprise if Webb called plays in 2026.
However, since Webb was hired, there has not been any indication one way or another about what the Broncos' offense would look like in 2026 regarding the play caller.
Webb is an ascending coach in the NFL and is likely destined for a head coaching job. But, for now, he's the Broncos offensive coordinator, and potentially, the play caller.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, the Broncos' head coach might reveal what the plan is. Broncos fans should keep a close eye on the news this week, as their play caller for the 2026 season might finally be confirmed.
