Pelicans Convert Former Blazer Bryce McGowens to Standard Contract

The New Orleans Pelicans have converted former Portland Trail Blazers guard Bryce McGowens’ contract from a two-way deal to a standard NBA contract, the team announced last week.

Today, Michael Scotto from HoopsHype shared the details of McGowens’ three-year pact on [social media](https://x.com/MikeAScotto/status/2025970079079289090?s=20):

> Update: The New Orleans Pelicans signed Bryce McGowens to a three-year, $6.24 million deal, which is fully guaranteed this season and next season with a team option for the 2027-28 season, sources told [@hoopshype](https://x.com/hoopshype). McGowens has averaged 8.1 points on 45% from 3PT range in 34 games

Now in his fourth NBA season, McGowens has averaged 5.5 points in 152 career games with the Charlotte Hornets, Portland and New Orleans. This season, in 34 games with the Pelicans, he has increased his production to 8.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game while shooting a career-high 45.1% from behind the three-point line on 2.1 attempts per game.

McGowens played 13 games for the Blazers in the 2024-2025 season, but saw only 31 minutes of playing time total. He tallied 13 total points and did not make a three-pointer. He made a much larger impact for Portland’s G League affiliate, the Rip City Remix, last season, leading the G League in scoring with 29.3 points per game.

McGowens got some revenge on the Blazers earlier this season, knocking down all five of his threes and tying his career highs with 23 points and seven rebounds in the Pelicans’ 143-120 win over Portland on Dec. 11.

McGowens and the Pelicans take on the Blazers one more time this season when they visit the Moda Center on Thursday, April 2.
