The San Francisco 49ers are entering the 2026 offseason with needs at pass rusher and at wide receiver. They have a first-round pick and some cap space to work with to address those needs.
But that's not all the 49ers could use to improve the team this offseason. Thanks to Mac Jones, the 49ers could land a nice return for their backup quarterback.
And according to Vic Tafur of The Athletic, the 49ers got some good news, as they're expected to receive some "big offers" for Jones this offseason.
49ers expected to get 'big offers' for Mac Jones in trade talks
"Faced with a weak class of QBs in this draft," Tafur writes, "teams such as the Vikings are expected to make big offers for Mac Jones."
With J.J. McCarthy struggling in his debut season, the Minnesota Vikings could be ready to splurge on Jones to give themselves a good starter who's proven himself.
Teams will be looking to land the next Sam Darnold after the Seattle Seahawks quarterback won the Super Bowl. While it stung seeing a division rival win the Super Bowl, the 49ers can use the hype about "the next Sam Darnold" and trade Jones.

Fortunately, thanks to a very weak quarterback class in both free agency and the draft, the 49ers are expected to land a strong return if they do trade Jones this offseason.
Brock Purdy is going nowhere, and with how great Kyle Shanahan is as a coach, the 49ers could turn to a different quarterback to take a flier on as their backup.
The 49ers need to take advantage of Jones's trade value this offseason, especially with the 49ers' QB expected to receive big offers this offseason.
