Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs comes in with top-30 ranking on NFL free agent list

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs has enjoyed a productive four seasons since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. In those four years, Doubs has accumulated 202 receptions for 2,424 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns. In 2023, he became just the third wide receiver in franchise history to have 100 receptions, 1,000 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns in his first two seasons. Hall of Famers James Lofton and Sterling Sharpe were the first two.

Jayden Reed also achieved the feat in 2024.

Jayden Reed Romeo Doubs Sterling Sharpe James Lofton

Receptions 119 101 145 100

Receiving Yards 1,650 1,099 2,214 1,786

Touchdowns 14 11 13 10

Not many fans noticed Doubs’ history-making first two seasons, probably because of the nature of Green Bay’s offense. No wide receiver is considered to be the number one receiving option, which means that his (and others’) production is oftentimes overlooked.

But the fact of the matter is that he is one of the best impending free agent wide receivers in the NFL.

Doubs is coming for a 2025 season that saw him have the best year of his career. He had 55 receptions for a career-high 724 yards and six touchdowns. He led Green Bay in both receptions and receiving yards, and tied for the team-lead in touchdown receptions.

However, also due to the way the Packers structure their offense, he likely will not be back in Green Bay in 2026 as he hits free agency. The fact of the matter is that the team already drafted Matthew Golden and Savion Williams last year and, with Christian Watson, Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks, already make the wide receiver room crowded.

And so, Doubs is likely going to be playing elsewhere in 2026, and has been ranked by NFL.com as the 28th-best overall free agent on the market:

“Doubs does everything well as a complementary receiver, especially catching difficult throws. He’s the type of workmanlike wideout who too often is underrated because he lacks flashy traits.”

Doubs, indeed, is a very complete wide receiver. In his first three seasons, drops were admittedly a weakness in is game. However, in 2025, he had a career-low 3.5% drop percentage.

What is more, Jordan Love had a 110.1 passer rating when targeting Doubs.

Needless to say, whichever team ends up signing the soon-to-be former Packers wide receiver is going to get a very solid player.

The only NFL wide receivers listed higher than Doubs on the rankings referenced above were:

Wan’Dale Robinson (#21)

Mike Evans (#16)

Rashid Shaheed (#12)

Alec Pierce (#5)

George Pickens (#2)

*Note: online reports state the the Dallas Cowboys are going to place the franchise tag on George Pickens, which means he will not hit free agency.
