The future of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce remains headline news, with many unsure what exactly the future Hall of Famer will do.
There are two options: Kelce returning for a 14th season or retiring. Right now, if we are reading the tea leaves and going by head coach Andy Reid's comments, it feels like Kelce could continue playing.
But it appears not everyone thinks he should.
ESPN's Mike Tannenbaum was asked if Kelce should return, and he doubled down on his take from last week.
"I wouldn't do it, and that's when you're in the front office and you're the head coach, you have to make the honest and sober observation that you're going to pay a player for what they're going to do, not what they've done," Tannenbaum said on ESPN's GetUp. "He is slowing down.
"Honor Travis Kelce for what he's done, but go get the next young tight end."

Kelce still offers plenty for offense
While last year wasn't great overall for the Chiefs, Kelce, despite not hitting the illustrious heights we have come to know, still led Kansas City in targets, yards, receptions and was joint-first in touchdowns.
So he is still being productive, but if he is to return, he has to be a secondary character for the offense, not one of the main guys.
Tannenbaum is right on one thing. The Chiefs should look to bring in the next young tight end this offseason, and if Kelce does return, mentor him for a year before allowing him to take over in 2027.
Still, that is predicated on Travis returning, which right now we're not sure will happen.
