Former Celtics Star Drops Truth Bomb On LeBron James' Scoring Record

The Boston Celtics blewout the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night, with the final score settling in at 111-89. Along the way, though, LeBron James made some history for the Lakers, as he became the first player in NBA history to score 43,000 points over the course of his career. In the wake of this game, former Celtics guard Jeff Teague had some strong thoughts on James' latest scoring feat.

James is already the NBA's all-time leading scorer, but he is continuing to put some serious distance between himself and the rest of the pack. While James' ability to score at a high level throughout his career is obviously impressive, Teague thinks his remarkable track record of health is a big reason why his all-time scoring record will never be broken.

“Nobody going to be healthy enough to break the record," Teague said on "Club 520." "Think about it, he is a super superstar was healthy for all 20 plus years straight. I think Bron miss like one season where he missed a bunch games with that ankle injury when he first got to the Lakers. He done played healthy for 20 plus years bro that’s crazy.”

With 43,008 total points, James is already over 4,000 points ahead of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who is second on this list currently. The closest active player on this list behind James is Kevin Durant, but he is over 10,000 points behind him at 31,927.

While there are quite a few talented young scorers in the NBA, it's going to take a combination of consistency and health for anyone to come even remotely close to breaking James' record. The fact that he's the only player to surpass 40,000 points is telling, and Teague's bold claim very well may end up being accurate.
