INDIANAPOLIS, IN. — The Chicago Bears have a few different needs as they head into a very important offseason here in 2026. Most of those needs are on the defensive side of the football, which includes safety.
As it stands right now, the top four safeties on the roster are set to be free agents, including starters Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker. It's likely the Bears will bring back Byard and potentially one of the reserves. But bringing back both starters, including Brisker just doesn't seem like it's in the cards for now. Things could change and the safety market in free agency could dictate a lot, including what the Bears do in this upcoming draft.
Either way, it would be smart for Chicago to address the safety position for the long term via the 2026 NFL Draft. As we sit here during the week of the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, I wanted to take a look at some of the players the Bears should watch at the safety position in Indianapolis. This is just a list of five guys who could really stand out during the workouts and meetings in Indianapolis and names we should get familiar with as April's draft looms.
