Man City Have Been Scouting Man United’s‘Top Target’Ahead Of The Summer Transfer Window

Man City are among a host of clubs keeping close tabs on Wolves attacking midfielder Mateus Mane, according to reports.

Rivals Manchester United have been heavily linked with the teenager in recent weeks, but TEAMtalk claim that while he is a “top target” for the Red Devils ahead of the summer, several other teams want him as well.

Pep Guardiola‘s side, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham have also been sending scouts to watch Mane in action following his breakthrough into Wolves’ first team.

The 18-year-old had only played one senior game before this season, but he has started Wolves’ last 11 Premier League matches.

Mane will not press for a transfer

Despite the interest being shown in the teenager, the player is believed to be happy at Molineux after establishing himself as a regular starter. Buy a Mane Wolves shirt at UK Soccer Shop here.

With Wolves now expected to be relegated from the Premier League, though, he may be keen on staying in the English top-flight, and it’s clear that he won’t be short of suitors.

Do Man City need a player like Mane?

The youngster can play in several different positions, which should make him a favourite of Guardiola’s, who likes to have adaptable players in his squad.

Mane has played as a striker at youth level, although he has also been used as a no.10 or out wide.

However, Wolves boss Rob Edwards has tended to deploy him in deeper-lying positions, having played him mostly as part of a central midfield three. He scored his first senior goal (as well as his first assist) in such a role during a 3-0 win over West Ham at the start of last month.

Mane is also an England youth international, despite being born in Portugal, and that would also make him a good addition for the homegrown quota.
