'I promise you': Ben Foster reckons Chelsea's players will be teasing Liam Rosenior behind his back

If there was one criticism of Liam Rosenior’s stint at Chelsea, it is some of the words he uses in the media, and Ben Foster reckons his latest comments will have some of the Chelsea squad teasing him.

Following Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Burnley at Stamford Bridge, Rosenior admitted that an unnamed Chelsea defender failed to complete a “marking assignment,” and it resulted in Zian Flemming’s goal.

While Rosenior would not name the player in question, he did all but that. Naming Flemming as the opposition’s biggest threat aerially, it makes sense that a centre-back would have had to mark him.

Rosenior said he would look to resolve the issue behind closed doors despite his comments, and the word assignment has got fans cringing. Ben Foster reckons some Chelsea players will be mocking him.

Chelsea players will be teasing Rosenior in group chats

It’s hardly the first time Rosenior’s comments have been the subject of jokes on social media or, as Foster claims, possibly among the players. Gary Lineker likened Rosenior to the fictional character David Brent.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, former England goalkeeper Foster reckons Chelsea’s players will be sending eachother clips and memes of Rosenior making the “assignment” comment in group chats.

“100%, they’ll be sharing memes. They’ll have a few mini group chats between them, not the whole team group chat, you don’t do it on the big main one. You’ll have a few whisperers,” Foster said on Monday.

“Three or four little cliques, like the Spanish lads will have one, the England players. Five or six players in each one, and in each one of them, they’ll be rattling these memes into them, I promise you they will be.”

Rosenior needs to fix Chelsea issue with tough run incoming

Whether it is a one-off, a case of the Chelsea player in question not listening or as Foster might suggest, the Chelsea players starting to see Rosenior as a laughing stock, who knows. But it needs to change.

Especially, with Chelsea’s run of games coming up. The Blues take on Arsenal, Aston Villa and both Manchester clubs in the coming weeks. Rosenior says Chelsea set fire to four points in the last two.

Had they secured those four points, Chelsea would be sitting ahead of Man United in fourth place currently. Instead, Lineker predicted Chelsea will finish in sixth place come the end of the season.
