Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior is reportedly intent on retaining young forward Liam Delap despite growing speculation linking the striker with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer.
Reports surfaced this week suggesting the England youth international could be offloaded as part of a wider squad restructuring ahead of the 2025/26 season. However, sources close to the club told Football Insider that Rosenior views Delap as a key component of his long-term plan, particularly given the manager’s desire to inject pace, pressing intensity and physicality into Chelsea’s attacking line.
Delap, who joined CHELSEA last year, has endured a mixed campaign, featuring intermittently under multiple tactical setups before Rosenior’s arrival in January. Since then, the 22-year-old has enjoyed increased playing time, impressing the coaching staff with his work rate, adaptability and willingness to learn.
With several Premier League clubs and a handful of European sides monitoring his situation, interest is expected to intensify as the summer window approaches. But Rosenior is said to be pushing strongly for the board to rebuff offers, believing Delap’s best development will come under his guidance in west London.
Chelsea’s recruitment team are expected to conduct a full squad review at the end of the season, though early indications suggest Delap is firmly in Rosenior’s long-term blueprint.
Opinion: Why Liam Delap Should Stay at Stamford Bridge
Delap remaining at CHELSEA is the best move for both player and club. Under Rosenior, he finally has a manager who trusts his athletic, high-press style. Regular minutes in a stable tactical system could accelerate his growth in a way constant transfers never could.
For Chelsea, Delap fits the profile of the modern Premier League striker: strong, direct, and aggressive in transition. With the squad still evolving, selling a young forward with his ceiling would be short-sighted.
Staying at Stamford Bridge gives Delap the platform to become a central figure in Chelsea’s rebuild—not a footnote in it
