Jamie Carragher has selected Chelsea’s Petr Cech as the best goalkeeper in Premier League history, annoying Manchester United fans who believe it should have been one of their own.
Chelsea have been blessed with top goalkeepers since the turn of the millennium, and that is potentially behind the standards being so high for the likes of Robert Sanchez in the eyes of the fans.
Those at Stamford Bridge frequently saw Cech rescue points for his side as the last resort behind the likes of John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho.

Man United fans not happy as Petr Cech pips Peter Schmeichel to best Premier League goalkeeper claim
Carragher was on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football with former United man Edwin van Der Sar, where he named the Czech international top of his list in Premier League history.
This was ahead of former Chelsea teammate Thibaut Courtois, as well as United legend Peter Schmeichel, much to the annoyance of their supporters on social media site, X.

One user said: “Huge surprise as Carragher doesn’t go with a United keeper. Cech was great for those Chelsea titles under Mourinho. Never as good after that head injury though. Schmeichel number one all day long.”
Another added: “Courtois & De Gea above Van Der Sar in the PL all-time list!? Not having that! And as good as Cech was, Schmeichel is the PL goat.”
A third claimed: “And now he’s put Cech above Schmeichel. Behave. Peter Schmeichel is the best keeper the Premier League has ever seen.”
Finally, one user stated: “Van Der Sar is better than Alisson, Courtois, Cech and De Gea. It’s debateable if he’s above Schmeichel or not.”

Comparing Petr Cech and Peter Schmeichel
Cech has four Premier League titles to his name, as well as the Champions League and Europa League. He also won 12 domestic trophies in England across his time at Chelsea and Arsenal.
Schmeichel on the other hand won five league titles across a seven-year period in the 1990s, as well as eight domestic cups and two European honours.
Cech notably holds the accolade for the most Premier League clean sheets, keeping 74 more than the Dane, who only ranks 11th on this list.
The former Blues man was also part of the defence which proudly owns the record of fewest goals conceded in a single season, something Arsenal found out this season was nearly impossible to beat.
