Gameweek 27 delivered another weekend full of big moments across the Premier League, and the action stretched all the way to Monday night. The title race shifted once again, the battle at the bottom stayed tight, and several teams showed clear signs of progress while others raised fresh concerns.
From tactical adjustments to costly mistakes and late drama, this round of matches gave us plenty to talk about. Here are five things we learned from Gameweek 27.
1. Tottenham still need time under Igor Tudor
Tottenham’s 4-1 defeat to Arsenal was a reminder that change does not happen instantly. Igor Tudor has come in with new ideas, including a switch to a 3-5-2 system and a higher press, but the players are still adjusting.
At times they looked unsure, especially in wide areas where Arsenal found space too easily. As the game wore on, Spurs also seemed to run out of energy. A demanding style needs time, fitness, and understanding, and right now Tottenham are still building all three.
2. Nottingham Forest showed real improvement
While Spurs are trying to find their balance, Nottingham Forest can feel encouraged despite losing 1-0 to Liverpool. The result was painful because it came late, but the performance told a different story.
Forest pressed with purpose, created chances, and played with confidence, especially in the first half. They looked organised and brave on the ball. If they continue at that level, they will give themselves a strong chance of picking up the points they need and avoid relegation.
3. Manchester City are building momentum again
At the other end of the table, Manchester City look like a team finding their rhythm at the perfect time. Pep Guardiola’s side are playing more through the middle, and the link-up between Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush has added sharpness to their attack.
The movement looks smoother and the confidence is clear. When City start to click like this, they often go on a strong run, and that could shape the title race in the weeks ahead.
4. Fulham Hold Their Position and Push Higher
Fulham are sitting in 10th place and continuing to climb after picking up important wins at the right time. Under manager Marco Silva, the team has shown more consistency and threat in attack.
Players like Harry Wilson, Raul Jimenez and Alex Iwobi have been key. Wilson keeps contributing goals and assists, Jimenez scored twice recently, and Iwobi added both a goal and an assist. Their form gives the team balance and creativity going forward.
With favourable fixtures coming up, Fulham have a strong chance to add more points and improve their position in the table.
5. Chelsea are still making life hard for themselves
Chelsea’s season continues to follow the same pattern. They remain unbeaten under Liam Rosenior, but they keep dropping points in matches they should manage better. Another red card, this time for Wesley Fofana, shifted the momentum again and made the game more difficult for them.
They have now dropped 17 points from winning positions at home. The quality is there, but small mistakes and moments of poor concentration are costing them. If they want to move higher up the table, they must close out games more consistently.
