Arsenal hatching impressive€40m transfer plan–One of the best at his role

Marco Carnesecchi

FRANKFURT, GERMANY – 26 NOVEMBER, 2025: Marco Carnesecchi – UEFA Champions League match Eintracht Frankfurt vs Atalanta Bergamo at Deutsche Bank Park.

In the 2025 summer transfer window, Sport Witness regularly covered Manchester United’s interest in Atalanta’s Marco Carnesecchi.

The goalkeeper stayed in Bergamo but is now attracting attention from Arsenal.

Arguably, the Italian has been one of the best in his role in Serie A this season. He has matured quite a bit since his loan spell at Cremonese, where he also played in Serie B.

Now, it appears the 25-year-old can possibly depart Atalanta in the summer, with his performances deservedly impressing suitors.

Carnesecchi attracting Arsenal

Corriere dello Sport take a look at the goalkeeper’s situation, with his current contract running until 2028.

Juventus see him as a replacement for the struggling Michele Di Gregorio. The Bianconeri stopper has made high-profile errors in the last few weeks, failing against Como at the weekend. He was also at fault against Galatasaray and Inter Milan over the last ten days.

That is why club legend Gigi Buffon has instructed Juve to move for Carnesecchi. A deal is unlikely to be easy, as Arsenal are also keeping an eye on the goalkeeper. Manchester United are also mentioned as a suitor but considering Senne Lammens’ presence, the interest seems rehashed from the past.

Atalanta are aware of growing interest in their player and want as much as €40m for him. This is likely to be problematic for both Arsenal and Juventus, as La Dea are usually a difficult club to negotiate with.

Arsenal target Marco Carnesecchi

So far this season, the Italian has kept seven clean sheets in 2026, which is highest in the league. He is tied at the top with Yann Sommer but the Swiss has been rather disappointing in general for Inter.

Carnesecchi has also made some major saves in pretty much every game for Atalanta. He has made as many as 83 saves, having also improved on the ball since his younger days.

Corriere dello Sport believe that this is why the player deserves the attention of Arsenal and Juventus. Even if he is yet to become a regular for the Italian national side, that is likely to be the next step-up for the stopper.
