The narrative surrounding Cole Palmer has taken a turn as John Obi Mikel warns Chelsea that the star’s links to Manchester United are fueled by more than just transfer talk.
Cole Palmer was linked with Manchester United for large parts of the January transfer window, but nothing came of it, as expected.
However, it came out from Liam Rosenior that Cole Palmer was perfectly happy after a chat with him at Cobham, with his absences down to injuries and fitness issues.
He’s hit a bit of a groove at Chelsea, scoring four goals and registering one assist, but he’s still not 100% as Rosenior continues to manage him from time to time.
But John Obi Mikel is of the belief that there’s more than meets the eye when it comes to the midfielder.

John Obi Mikel thinks there’s some truth to Cole Palmer and Manchester United rumours
The Obi One podcast is never short of strong comments, with John Obi Mikel constantly speaking his mind about Chelsea. And the latest episode is no different.
Mikel believes that there is something up with Cole Palmer right now.
“Right, Palmer is not really happy. Yes, he struggled with injuries, but he’s back playing, but he’s not quite back to his best. Yes, there are stories about him linking him to Manchester United.
“They’re not going away. There’s no smoke without fire, man.”

Cole Palmer would surely rather stay at Chelsea
One of Cole Palmer’s close friends is convinced he’s joining Man United one day.
For Palmer, the pull of Manchester United is deeply personal; as a boyhood fan from Wythenshawe, the chance to return to his northern roots could be tempting. Especially as Old Trafford may finally be offering the stability and platform he wants.
However, leaving Chelsea carries massive risks. At Stamford Bridge, he is the untouchable of a project that has already delivered silverware in the Club World Cup and the UEFA Conference League.
And with a contract that ties him to London until 2033, he wouldn’t come cheap.
While the allure of the North is strong, staying at Chelsea allows him to remain the face of a club built entirely around him. Ultimately, Palmer must decide if he wants to risk his world-class reputation to chase a childhood dream that has swallowed up many stars before him.
