Manchester United are already planning ahead for the summer transfer window. They have seemingly identified a top target – none other than Real Madrid and France midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, the Red Devils have eyed Camavinga as a potential long-term replacement for the aging Casemiro. However, United aren’t the only Premier League club to be caught up in the race for his signature.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal have also been linked with moves for the players – of the trio, Liverpool are probably the most likely to make a move for him.
Casemiro has already announced that he will leave United at the end of the season – therefore, the need to source a replacement is understandable. But will Camavinga be a good fit for the Red Devils?

Will Eduardo Camavinga leave Real Madrid?
While Eduardo Camavinga is one of Madrid’s most valuable midfielders, they seem willing to move him on at this stage of his career. He has largely been sidelined in favour of international compatriot Aurelien Tchouameni this season – as such, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see him leave the club in the summer.
This doesn’t mean he’ll be cheap – he has a release clause in his contract of €1 billion. Of course, United won’t have to meet this valuation to bring him on board, but it would be surprising to see him ove for anything less than £50 million.
Furthermore, there is the matter of the World Cup to contend with. Depending on Camavinga’s performances at the tournament, his market value could fluctuate drastically.
What would Eduardo Camavinga bring to Man Utd?
United have been keen on Camavinga for several years now – they scouted him as far back as 2021, when he was still at Rennes. There have been plenty of changes to the recruitment staff at Old Trafford since then, but their interest in the 23-year-old has persisted.
However, this doesn’t automatically mean he’ll be a good fit for Michael Carrick’s men. As you can see from the statistics table we displayed earlier, Camavinga isn’t the most defensively-minded holding midfielder in the world.
He has functioned as more of a central midfielder in recent months, rather than as a defensive one. Players that come over from La Liga sometimes fail to meet the physical standards of the Premier League – but this shouldn’t be an issue for Camavinga.
Real Madrid have some of the best training facilities in the world – they have allowed him to pack on some serious mass, without losing any of his natural energy or stamina.
As such, he should be able to do a job as a number four or as a number six – with Madrid being willing to sell, United just need to beat their rivals to the punch.
