Chelsea and Tottenham now know how much they will need to pay to pull off a midfielder transfer.

Chelsea and Tottenham now know how much they will need to pay if they want to get their hands on Borussia Dortmund star Felix Nmecha. Both London clubs are being linked with a move for the midfielder, who is reportedly interested in a move to the Premier League this summer.

Chelsea could do with more competition in the midfield, with Dario Essugo yet to manage a consistent run of fitness, while talk of interest in Enzo Fernandez just won’t go away.

Romeo Lavia could yet stake a big claim between now and the end of the season, though, and Andrey Santos will continue to develop with more Premier League football.

As for Tottenham, they certainly need more midfielders, with Yves Bissouma out of contract in the summer, while they are likely to pull the trigger on a deal to keep Joao Palhinha beyond this season, assuming he does want to stay.

Dortmund midfielder Nmecha has been linked with both clubs. The 25-year-old is tied down until 2028 currently, but Dortmund have a rich history of selling key players for the right price.

According to Bild, Dortmund have now slapped a £61.1million price tag on Nmecha, who has five goals and three assists so far this season. Chelsea and Tottenham may have grounds to drive down that fee, though, given there have been reports claiming Nmecha wants to join his brother Lukas, who plays for Leeds United, in England.

So, there could be a deal to be done below that fee if the player makes his desire to leave known. But for now, Dortmund are setting the bar high and sending a message that they don’t want to sell, and especially not for cheap.
