Fresh off of an impressive win over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night, the Golden State Warriors will look for a second consecutive victory when they travel to New Orleans to take on the Pelicans on Tuesday night.
Unfortunately, the Warriors will continue to be without star guard Steph Curry for the game in the Big Easy.
Steph Curry ruled out vs. Pelicans due to nagging knee injury
Curry has been officially ruled out of the game against the Pelicans due to a lingering knee injury that has been labeled as right patellofemoral pain syndrome, a.k.a. "runner's knee” – an injury defined by pain and swelling around the kneecap area.
It will be the eighth consecutive game missed by Curry due to the injury. His last game action came back on Jan. 30 against the Detroit Pistons. His return also isn't imminent.
Curry had a recent MRI that came back clean, which is good news. But, he's still experiencing pain and swelling in the knee. Until that dissipates, he won't be back in the lineup for Golden State.
On the season, Curry has appeared in 39 games for the Warriors and he's averaging 27.2 points, 4.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals per performance.
The meeting between Golden State and New Orleans will be the fourth and final of the season. The Warriors won all three of the previous meetings between the teams during the current campaign. All three of those matchups occurred in November.
While the Warriors will be shorthanded without Curry on Tuesday night, the Pelicans are expected to get back a key contributor. Guard Dejounte Murray is expected to make his season debut after suffering a torn Achilles last year.
