According to ESPN insider Marc J. Spears, Jokic has been playing through a wrist and hand injury. The issue dates back to the Denver February 19 matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers. The injury has clearly impacted the three-time MVP–level center.

"Certainly not quite himself, but if he misses a couple more games, he's not going to be available for awards," Spears said. "They've got other injuries like Aaron Gordon, who they hope to have back this weekend."

Jokic has already dealt with setbacks this season. After starting the year strong and appearing in the first 32 games, he suffered a knee injury that forced him to miss significant time.

"I think he's also putting pressure on himself to be in a Nuggets uniform, keep them afloat, especially after missing as many games as he did," he added. "I think he's going to fight through this injury and keep playing."

The initial concern inside the Nuggets organization was high, but the final diagnosis brought relief.

He returned to action on January 30 against the Clippers and has not missed a game since. However, sources suggest he is not at full strength.

Despite Jokic absence earlier in the season, Denver managed to stay competitive in the Western Conference standings. The Nuggets are currently 36–22, sitting fourth in the West.

However, the team has gone 4–6 in its last 10 games, showing signs of inconsistency. The San Antonio Spurs sit second in the conference at 41–16, giving first place to the Oklahoma City Thunder at 44–14.
