Chicago Bears 2026 Free Agency Wish List

Of all the players I’ve suggested, this one is probably the least realistic, but I had to include it in this wish list. D’Andre Swift had a tremendous season for the Bears, setting a career high in rushing yards (1,087), rushing touchdowns (9), first downs (62), and yards per carry (4.9) (did average 5.5 with the Lions in 2022, but only had 99 carries). Swift had great success with the revamped offensive line. Now, imagine a player like Breece Hall behind that line at 24 years old, instead of 27 year old Swift. Despite playing next to some of the worst quarterback play the league has ever seen, Hall still finished the season with 1,065 yards (4.4 YPC) and four rushing touchdowns. Hall is an explosive player, with a career-long touchdown run of 83 yards, and even broke one off for 59 this season.

Running backs typically age out in the back half of their 20s and early 30s, which Swift is rapidly approaching in his seventh season. Swift is also an easy contract to move off of, saving the Bears $7.4m, which would free them up to sign Hall at his $10m market value. Yes, none of the most recent Super Bowl champions have paid their running backs (outside of Marshawn Lynch), but the Bears wouldn't be resetting the running back market here with Hall. He would be an upgrade over Swift, both in the short and long term. Chicago needs to find explosive players with a lot of speed, and I think the spry running back out of Iowa State would bring their offense to another level than what we saw in 2025.
