Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles popularized the “tush push” in the NFL, in which quarterbacks are shoved from behind by teammates in the backfield while attempting QB sneaks.
When the Eagles debuted the play, it was essentially unstoppable in short-yardage situations, and there were pushes from certain franchises and some members of the media to get the play banned.
Ultimately, the resolution to ban the play never passed, even in light of officiating difficulties surrounding the play.
However, the controversial short-yardage play is finally being cracked down on, according to one prominent insider around the league, just not by the NFL.
“While the NFL no longer is discussing a Tush Push ban, the UFL will announce today that is eliminating the Tush Push,” reported senior NFL insider Adam Schefter on Tuesday.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“I would like to see the exact wording of this rule. That, to me, was always one of the bigger hurdles. How to eliminate that play without all other pushing of ball carries. Or do you take them all out,” one person wrote on Twitter.
“I’m still mostly against banning the Tush Push, but if they don’t ban it this year and still can’t learn how to officiate it fairly, it’s gonna have to go,” someone else added.
“Always one step ahead lol,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see if the ban is eventually adopted by the NFL as well.
