Dolphins GM makes decision on Jaylen Waddle, De'Von Achane amid trade rumors

The Miami Dolphins might be one of the biggest rebuilding teams this offseason, as evidenced by the release of Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb already.

Tua Tagovailoa has a very uncertain future, and someone like Minkah Fitzpatrick could also be traded. But what about the rumors surrounding Jaylen Waddle and De'Von Achane? Both have been mentioned as possible trade candidates this offseason.

However, according to Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN, Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan revealed some big insight into the trade rumors on both Waddle and Achane, seemingly making a decision on their futures in Miami.

Dolphins GM makes Waddle, Achane trade decisions

"The Dolphins see De'Von Achane and Jaylen Waddle as important parts of their franchise," Louis-Jacques reports. "They'll listen to offers for both players (as they would for any player) but the plan is for Achane and Waddle to remain in Miami, per Jon-Eric Sullivan. Miami not actively shopping either player."

This update is a significant one. The Dolphins aren't going to hang up the phone when a team comes calling about Waddle or Achane. But that doesn't mean either will be dealt.

As of now, the plan for the Dolphins is for both Waddle and Achane to remain with the team for the 2026 season.

Keeping their superstar running back and wide receiver would be a big sign that the Dolphins don't plan to be in a rebuild for very long.

While a lot of work needs to get done with the roster going forward, the Dolphins' plan to hold onto both Waddle and Achane indicates they're not too far off from competing again.

The Dolphins aren't shopping either, but trade offers can still come in. Sullivan is doing his due diligence with the two most valuable players on the roster. Neither is planned to be dealt this offseason, with both Waddle and Achane key to the team going forward.
