Back in February of 2024, the Milwaukee Bucks acquired point guard Patrick Beverley in a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers. Cameron Payne and a second round pick were sent to Philadelphia in the deal. The trade reunited Beverley with head coach Doc Rivers, whom he played for when the two were with the Los Angeles Clippers.
In 26 games with the Bucks, Beverley averaged 6.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists, largely in a reserve role. However, he was one of the most animated and passionate players on the team, and his interactions with fans on social media helped make him popular in Milwaukee.
That passion, though, also got him into some trouble. He got into verbal altercations with Indiana Pacers fans, for example, and was suspended by the NBA for angrily throwing a basketball at one of them.

Beverley has not played in the NBA since his run with the Bucks in 2024. He did play overseas in Israel for a while, but eventually returned to the United States because of racism his wife faced while they were in the Middle East.
After he had returned home, Beverley was arrested for assault in Texas. The charges stemmed from an incident in which he walked in on his little sister, who was under 18 years old, alone with an adult male.
From the onset, Beverley denied any wrongdoing and that the picture that was being painted was not an accurate description of what happened.
And apparently, the grand jury agreed. On Monday night, it was reported that he was not going to be indicted:
“Patrick wants everyone to know that he would never do anything to harm his sister and that he is very grateful that the grand jury has recognized that with their no-bill,” Beverley’s attorneys, Rusty Hardin and Letitia Quinones-Hollins, said in a statement. “He is thankful for all who prayed for him and supported him during this time. He is glad that the process was allowed to work as it did and his hope is that with these charges behind him now, his name and reputation will be restored.”
Beverley posted the following message on social media: “I am deeply grateful for all thoughts and prayers for the family. We must continue to protect our children, especially our young girls. This ordeal has truly made our family stronger. Thank you for your continued support and prayers.”
