Ex-Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster believes that Chelsea players might be making fun of Liam Rosenior. This claim has added fresh fuel to the debate around the Blues’ dressing room mood. This comes after their frustrating 1-1 draw with Burnley at Stamford Bridge. Rosenior’s post match comments have raised a few eyebrows. According to Foster, the manager’s words may already be circulating privately among the players.
Ben Foster Reveals Dressing Room Reaction After Draw
Chelsea failed to hold on against Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday. After the match, Liam Rosenior admitted that one unnamed defender failed in their ‘marking assignment’. Due to that, it led to Zian Flemming’s equaliser. He did not point fingers directly, but the hint was clear. Flemming is known for his aerial threat, so many assumed a centre back was responsible.
The Blues’ head coach insisted the matter would be sorted internally. However, the word ‘assignment’ was highlighted by the fans. The comment quickly spread across social media.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ben Foster did not hold back as he said:
“100%, they’ll be sharing memes. They’ll have a few mini group chats between them, not the whole team group chat, you don’t do it on the big main one. You’ll have a few whisperers.
“Three or four little cliques, like the Spanish lads will have one, the England players. Five or six players in each one, and in each one of them, they’ll be rattling these memes into them, I promise you they will be.”

It is a strong claim from Foster believes that the comment would not just pass quietly. Instead, it could become a running joke behind the scenes in the team’s dressing room.
Chelsea Face Major Test Amid Tough Fixtures
Chelsea cannot afford distractions right now. A draw against Burnley already felt like dropped points. Rosenior admitted the team had effectively thrown away four points in their last two games. Those points would have lifted them above Manchester United into fourth place.
Nonetheless, the pressure is building pretty heavily on the Stamford Bridge club. The Blues now face Arsenal, Aston Villa, Manchester United and Manchester City in the coming weeks in the PL. That run games will likely define their 2025-26 season for sure.
During this run, if some players see their current situation as laughable, that is a pretty bad sign. Managers need authority in the dressing room and Rosenior must regain control in the squad. In addition, he should not do that through public comments but through clear action.
Mistakes happen in football, but how they are handled is important. Calling out a missed “marking assignment” without naming the player left too much room for talks.
Rosenior Must Silence The Critics
The Blues’ manager has to respond not with words but with performances. Chelsea’s defensive focus must improve immediately. The team cannot concede easy goals, especially from basic marking errors.
If there is any truth to Foster’s claims, team unity becomes even more important at this point. Group chats and jokes are harmless when results are strong. But, they become an issue when the form dips.
The west London club still has quality as the squad is packed with talent. But, talent alone does not guarantee respect for a manager. With that, Rosenior now faces a defining spell. A strong run against top opponents will likely silence the noise. A poor run will make every comment, every meme, and every whisper louder.
For now, Ben Foster has thrown the spotlight firmly onto Chelsea’s dressing room. Whether the claims are real or not, the only way to shut it down is simply by winning matches.
