Nicolas Jackson will stay at Chelsea this summer on one condition - journalist

Chelsea striker Liam Delap could play a role in what happens to Nicolas Jackson this summer.

Jackson is currently on loan at Bayern Munich, but the 24-year-old is set to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

It has been reported that Jackson could remain at Chelsea next term; however, things are not that simple.

Liam Delap exit needed this summer in order for Nicolas Jackson to remain at Chelsea

It does not look like there will be enough room for both Delap and Jackson in Liam Rosenior’s squad next term.

Journalist Simon Phillips has reported on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that there is a way back for Jackson at Chelsea.

However, according to Phillips, the Blues will either have to sell Delap or loan him in order for Jackson to be able to stay at Stamford Bridge.

This is so harsh on Delap! 😭

Delap is likely to have suitors this summer, so Chelsea will not find it hard to offload the Englishman if that is their plan.

It is already being reported that Everton are interested in signing Delap after failing to land him before his move from Ipswich Town to Chelsea.

Jackson could also be a man in demand. It is thought that Premier League clubs are already circling Jackson.

Nicolas Jackson an instant upgrade on Liam Delap

If you look at Jackson’s first season at Chelsea and Delap’s, it is quite clear that the former would be an improvement on the latter, who has really struggled this term.

Back in the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, Jackson scored 14 goals and provided five assists in 35 appearances.

Delap, on the other hand, has netted just once in 18 outings. The England Under-21 international has had injury issues, but it is still a very disappointing return.

Jackson’s all-round game is also superior to Delap’s and is something that the former Ipswich man can learn from.

Jackson is great at holding up the ball before dribbling with it or bringing one of his teammates into play. Chelsea supporters have not seen much of that from Delap.
