Patriots Get Positive A.J. Brown Trade Update

The New England Patriots could use some more weapons on offense, and A.J. Brown is a name to watch this offseason.

Brown played for Mike Vrabel in Tennessee and has plenty of respect for the current Patriots coach. Brown has also been linked to the Patriots in rumors in the past, and grew up a Patriots fan. However, rumors are not an indication that the Philadelphia Eagles will part ways with him.

On Tuesday, before the NFL Combine, Eagles' Howie Roseman and Nick Sirianni both made comments that opened the door for Brown to actually get traded. He is an elite wide receiver and would make the Patriots' offense even better. Now, there's a chance the Eagles are actually willing to move him, creating a possibility that he could reunite with Vrabel.

“I can’t guarantee how anything’s going to play out into next season,” Sirianni said on Tuesday, per The Philadelphia Inquirer's Olivia Reiner.

After the season ended, Roseman praised Brown and noted that players like him are hard to find. He insinuated that the Eagles are not looking to get rid of him. On Tuesday, he echoed the sentiment, but said they will listen to offers on him and are open-minded about trades in general.

"I think you go into the league year listening to offers for everything and anything,” Roseman said when asked about whether the Eagles would entertain offers on Brown. “I don’t think that you can go into any conversation with anyone and just shoot things down without hearing what they have to say, because you never know. You never know on any player.

“If someone’s going to give you something that you didn’t anticipate and you won’t even have the conversation, I don’t think you’re necessarily doing your job or really servicing the team that you’re with. You never know what someone’s willing to do. Certainly, we’ve been in situations where there are guys that we didn’t anticipate trading, that we got an offer that was too good, and then you balance it with what you can get there.”

Brown has fueled trade rumors, specifically to the Patriots, in the past with social media activity. He recently made a joke about joining the Patriots on "Dudes on Dudes" with Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski. With Sirianni being non-committal about Brown's status and Roseman noting the Eagles are willing to listen to offers, the Patriots could be a team to watch if he is made available.
