Summer midfield signing Dario Essugo has had a rough time since making his move to England. Signed as a defensive-minded option to give some rest to names like Caicedo, he got hurt on international duty and missed the rest of 2025. He returned to the bench before suffering an unfortunate setback and hasn’t featured since.

In the lead-up to a fixture against league leaders Arsenal, Essugo has been seen back in training. This is some positive news as the team gears up to continue competing on multiple fronts with important fixtures to come in the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup.
Welcome Re-Additions
The former Sporting man isn’t the only midfielder to make his return recently. Former Southampton man Romeo Lavia played 45 minutes in the PL2 over the past week before being named on the bench against Burnley. This sees two players coming back, ready to aid Santos, Enzo, and Caicedo by offering something fresh off the bench or a rotational option for lesser outings.

Rosenior has looked quite capable at making intuitive changes off the bench in his tenure but a lack of options saw things get a little stagnant as seen at the weekend against the Clarets. Essugo offers a defensive-focused presence who could come in to close up shop late in matches or deputise for one of the usual pivot, allowing them to be unleashed with fresh legs for the end of the game.
