‘Talks Ongoing’–Arsenal Preparing To Sign“Phenomenal”Midfielder As Andrea Berta’s Priority

Arsenal are reportedly opening negotiations with one of their players over a new long-term contract at the Emirates.

The Gunners’ success this season has in part been down to their impressive recruitment over the past few years, as Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta have been able to develop one of the best squads in world football.

Arsenal signed the likes of Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres and Noni Madueke in the summer transfer window this year, and in previous years was able to bring in the likes of Jurrien Timber, Riccardo Calafiori, David Raya and Declan Rice.

The latter has arguably been one of the best players in the world since he joined Arsenal, and it is understood that he could sign a new deal with the club.

Arsenal ‘open talks’ to sign new Rice deal

Declan Rice’s current contract at Arsenal is due to run until 2028, meaning he has just two years left, but it is understood that the club are prioritising the midfielder, as they want to tie him down for the future.

According to Caught Offside, Arsenal are set to open talks with Declan Rice over a new contract, because they want to secure his future at the club, based on the fact that he has been one of the world’s best midfielders over the past two seasons. A new contract for Rice is understood to be Berta’s main priority at the moment.

Rice joined Arsenal in 2023 from West Ham for a fee of £105m, and he has since made 141 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 20 goals, and providing 30 assists, turning their midfield into a title contender in England and in Europe.

Arteta hailed “phenomenal” Rice

This season, Rice has been a key player for the Gunners, and manager Arteta knows that. The Arsenal boss was quoted earlier in the season by 247 Sports News: “He was phenomenal… one of the best I’ve seen in a long time.

“For me he is one of the best midfielders in the world. Declan is constantly adding things to his game and his role in the team.”
