John Terry has aired his frustrations at Chelsea, feeling that he should have been involved in leading the first team after Enzo Maresca departed as manager.
Club legend Terry is involved with coaching the academy sides in west London, working with the age range squads on a part-time basis.
The former defender is a mammoth figure at Stamford Bridge, having made 717 appearances for the Blues in all competitions.
He won five Premier League titles, the Champions League and five FA Cups during an epic stint at the heart of Chelsea’s defence.
Terry has made no secret of the fact he would like to manage the Blues, but is not expecting to be ever offered the opportunity.
After Maresca left the club on New Year’s Day, it was Under-21 manager Calum McFarlane who stepped up to lead the team for two games, with Terry not involved.
The 45-year-old was frustrated with the situation and felt it became clear that he would not ever get the Chelsea gig without building a management career elsewhere.

‘I’m in the academy. I’m working with the 18s and the 21s. Love my role there. It’s like a part-time basis,’ Terry said of his management ambitions on GOLF LIFE.
‘I’ve always said Chelsea, if Chelsea ever come up, but then realistically do I get Chelsea without doing the other bits? Probably not.
‘I think especially for me, being in the building and being part of the 21s and the 21s group went and took the game at Man City recently and I didn’t get the call or didn’t get included in that.’
On whether he was annoyed that he was not asked to take the game against Manchester City, which ended in a 1-1 draw, he said: ‘Not annoyed. probably more frustrated because I was certainly part of that 21’s group that went over.

‘So even if I didn’t take the take the team, obviously Calum took the team, done really well got a result out the game. I feel like I should have been part of that.
‘Now listen, people have got to make decisions. I love it when people make decisions and they go “yes” or “no” and clearly ownership or whoever made those decisions and sporting directors have gone, no not to include me, for whatever reason why I don’t know.
‘But that’s why I probably don’t get the Chelsea bit if I don’t go and do the other bits. But I’m certainly not looking [for a job].’
Terry did look set to be building a career in coaching and ultimately management after his playing days came to an end in 2018.
He was Dean Smith’s assistant at Aston Villa in the Championship and then Premier League, and later joined the same manager at Leicester City.
