Internal decision could delay transfer to Liverpool – Transfer games may be at play

Liverpool may have positioned themselves strongly for Allan, but fresh reports from Brazil suggest the midfielder is now set to stay at Palmeiras for 2026.

Local insider outletPortal do Palestra claim the Brazilian side have taken a firm internal decision not to sell the 21-year-old, despite relevant offers and strong European interest. That stance follows meetings between the board and coaching staff, with a direct request from Abel Ferreira playing a key role.

In the end, Palmeiras is prioritising stability over immediate profit.

Strategic choice over immediate sale

Palmeiras reportedly received significant approaches, including formal bids. However, the club opted to prioritise sporting continuity,as previously reported.

The decision reflects a wider strategy. Fewer squad changes mean more training time and greater cohesion. The board believe that keeping Allan improves their chances of competing for major titles across the season.

That approach comes despite previousdiscussions around a €35m (£30m) structure involving bonuses. Palmeiras had also explored keeping 20% of the player’s economic rights in any deal, or demanding a higher guaranteed fee for 100%.

Allan’s release clause remains set at €100m (£86m) for foreign clubs. While that figure is rarely triggered in full, it underlines the leverage Palmeiras hold.

What this means for Liverpool

For Liverpool, this represents a potential shift in the timeline rather than the end of interest.

Recent Brazilian reports suggestedthe Reds were seeking preference in negotiations and were exploring a bonus-heavy structure. However, if Palmeiras are committed to keeping Allan throughout 2026, any move would now depend on a significant change in stance.

It is also worth noting that earlier this year Napoli had a €35m (£30m) plus €5m (£4.3m) proposal rejected. That offer did not convince Palmeiras to sell. Now, the club appear even more determined.

For the moment, Allan remains in Brazil. Liverpool may still admire the player, but Palmeiras have chosen continuity and title ambition over cash – at least for now.

Of course, the continuity claims are potentially another way of telling the Reds to offer more.
