Payton Pritchard Pulled Off Something Only Larry Bird, Kevin McHale Have Done

Payton Pritchard has been absolutely on fire lately, and the basketball world has taken note.

CBS broadcaster John Fanta called Pritchard a "killer" on a new episode of The Kevin O'Connor Show. Fanta also pointed out an astounding statistical feat that Pritchard just pulled off with a 30-point outing against the Los Angeles Lakers on the road.

“Pritchard joined Larry Bird and Kevin McHale as the only Celtics to record 25-plus points off the bench in three consecutive games," Fanta said. "This guy’s on a heater. Like, he has turned into a different monster.”

Pritchard, who earned Sixth Man of the Year honors last season, has elevated his production significantly this year, averaging 17.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game across 55 appearances. He's shooting 46.9% from the field and 36.8% from three-point range.

Early in the season, Pritchard started games amid roster adjustments, including the departure of Jrue Holiday. He posted impressive outings, such as a 42-point performance in late November.

Since returning to the sixth-man spot in mid-February, Pritchard has thrived even more so.

His scoring bursts, playmaking, and energy have provided a reliable spark, contributing to the team's strong position in the Eastern Conference.
