Celtics' Hugo Gonzalez Sends Message To Baylor Scheierman

Baylor Scheierman is rapidly proving himself to be an important part of the Boston Celtics rotation. The sophomore wing has started in 7 of the last 10 games for Joe Mazzulla’s team and is quickly earning a reputation for the work he’s putting in on the defensive end.

Scheierman is just one of three young wings at Mazzulla’s disposal. Rookie Hugo Gonzalez and forward Jordan Walsh are also on the roster and also excel as defensive wing stoppers. As such, there’s a level of competition that appears to be bringing out the best in each of the trio.

Nevertheless, the young forwards also appear to be building legitimate friendships. That was on full display when Gonzalez left a humorous comment under a video posted by CelticsBlog’s Noa Dalzell, where Scheierman discussed guarding LeBron James and being from a small town in Nebraska.

“@playforhim3 could we please stop spamming the “I’m from a small town in Nebraska”????” Gonzalez joked.

Scheierman was quick to respond to Gonzalez, in Spanish no less.

“Hermanito, no se suponía que todos estuviéramos aquí,” Scheierman wrote, which translates to, “Little brother, we weren't supposed to all be here.”

Hermanito, no se suponía que todos estuviéramos aquí.

A big part of the Celtics' success this season has been their connectedness and camaraderie. It’s encouraging to see that it reaches beyond the basketball court. With the way both Scheierman and Gonzalez have been playing this season, it’s possible they both have long futures with the franchise.

Therefore, their friendship is just another aspect of the team that fans can hone in on and enjoy.
