With 22 NBA teams in action tonight, there’s no shortage of intriguing options when it comes to player prop bets.
Below, we’ll dive into why we like Jared McCain to continue to put up solid numbers for the Thunder as we detail the best NBA player prop bets tonight.
Jared McCain Over 10.5 Points (-106 at FanDuel) — 1 unit
Thunder at Raptors, 7:30 p.m. ET
The first sign that tonight’s battle between the Thunder and the Raptors will feature a heavy dose of OKC’s reserves, including recently acquired guard Jared McCain, is the fact that the 44-14 Thunder are catching points against the 34-23 Raptors.
The Thunder lost to Toronto once this season, 103-101 back in late January, but they were 11.5-point home favorites with MVP favorite Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the lineup.
OKC has won four of its last five games. Including a 110-93 loss to Milwaukee on February 12, just before the All-Star Break, the Thunder have outscored their last five opponents by 46 points despite the absences of both Jalen Williams and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for the last three games, as Isaiah Joe and McCain have picked up the slack offensively.
Both Williams and SGA will also miss tonight’s game, and Chet Holmgren and Alex Caruso are listed as game-time decisions.
Obviously, McCain’s role if Holmgren and/or Caruso are limited would increase significantly. And even if those two are close to full strength, McCain’s numbers since his move to OKC make him hard to resist tonight. The former Duke star has been in double figures in each of his last four games, including a 10-point night on seven FGA in in just 15:45 in his team’s win over Cleveland on Sunday.
More importantly, McCain has been heavily involved throughout his brief Thunder tenure to date, whether he’s gotten extended minutes or not, with a usage rate of 25.3, 27.27 and 23.9 in his last three games. Barring Thunder coach Mark Daigneault suddenly keeping McCain on the bench, he should be able to cash this prop with ease, even against a good defensive team like Toronto (the Raptors enter this contest ranked 6th in the league in both points allowed per game and defensive rating).
Let’s wrap up the case for McCain to clear this line by noting that he’s drained 11 of his 23 3-point attempts for the Thunder. He’s also posted a true shooting percentage of 63.5 or better in three of his last four games. Let’s note, for context, that the list of the league leaders in TS% is dominated by big men, with SGA and the Lakers’ Austin Reaves representing the only two guards with a true shooting percentage that is in the same ballpark as league leader Nikola Jokic (69.3%).
