2026 NFL Scouting Combine: Day 1 notebook for Chicago Bears

INDIANAPOLIS, IN., — The Chicago Bears lost assistant general manager Ian Cunningham to the Atlanta Falcons this offseason as he moves on from his position in the Windy City to a promotion. But following the hiring, there is some controversy.

It's not official, but reports suggest that the Bears will NOT receive two third-round picks after Cunningham was hired. That's due to how the Atlanta Falcons structure the front office with wording in contracts, making Matt Ryan the man in charge, although Cunningham is making the football decisions. On Tuesday, we got to hear from both Ryan Poles and Cunningham at the NFL Scouting Combine and it's clear they believe the Bears deserve the picks.
