The Jets are being predicted to sign cornerback Nashon Wright.

The 2025 season was undoubtedly a year to forget for the New York Jets. The Jets finished the 2025 campaign with a 3-14 record and ended the year with five consecutive losses. It was also the fourth time since 2020 that they finished last in the AFC East and the 15th straight year that they missed the playoffs.

With how poorly this past season went for the Jets, there is no question that they should be active this offseason. The Jets have several areas on their roster that they need to upgrade if they hope to be a more competitive team during the 2026 season. As a result of this, it would not be surprising in the slightest if they made several moves.

One way that the Jets could look to strengthen their roster this offseason is through free agency. There is a good number of solid players who have the potential to hit the market this year, and the Jets should aim to take advantage of it.

One specific area that the Jets should be looking to improve is at the cornerback position. Due to this, they are now being linked to one of this year’s top pending free agents.

Jets Predicted to Sign Nahshon Wright

In a recent article for Fox Sports, Greg Auman ranked the top 100 free agents of this year and also predicted where they each would sign. Cornerback Nahshon Wright was among the players Auman discussed, and it is easy to understand when noting that he is one of the best cornerbacks who could hit the free agent market in March. Wright ended up landing the No. 13 spot on Auman’s list because of it.

“He was a ballhawk on one of the NFL’s best takeaway defenses — five interceptions and two forced fumbles, earning a Pro Bowl nod along the way. Chicago is over the salary cap right now, and Wright could end up the high-dollar corner in this not-particularly-deep class, drawing $16 million a year or more,” Auman wrote.

With the Jets in need of an impactful cornerback, it makes all the sense in the world that they are being viewed as a potential free agent destination for Wright. When looking at their current group, Wright would certainly give them a much-needed boost.

The 27-year-old Wright would also have the potential to be a good long-term fit on a Jets team that is looking to improve. This is because he is on the right side of 30 and still should have multiple good years ahead of him in his prime.

Jets Will Have Competition for Wright If They Enter Sweepstakes

If the Jets pursue Wright this offseason, there is no question that they have competition to land his services. Wright is one of the top players who could hit the market and should generate interest from multiple clubs that are looking to upgrade their cornerback position. This is especially so when noting that Wright just had a strong 2025 season that saw him make his first Pro Bowl.

Yet, even with this being the case, the Jets would be wise to make a major push for Wright. The fit looks excellent on paper, and it will be fascinating to see if they end up landing him from here.
