As he prepares to enter his fourth season in the NFL, Bryce Young is set to be working another new offensive coordinator with the Carolina Panthers.
Head coach Dave Canales shared on Tuesday that he will be giving up play calling duties to offensive coordinator Brad Idzik.
“This is something that all of us collectively have talked about as an organization. It was my idea to come up with this,” Canales said at the NFL combine. “… [Idzik’s] continuity with the system, his continuity with the players, being able to do that, I believe will be the best thing for us moving forward.”
Canales later added that Young as kept in the loop on the decision to move to Idzik.
This will be the first opportunity for Idzik to call the offense in the regular season with Carolina. He has been with the franchise as the offensive coordinator since 2024 and has had stops as a position coach in his career with the Tampa Bay.
For Young, Idzik will be the fourth different offensive play-caller he has worked with in the NFL. During his rookie season his then head coach Frank Reich began the season called the plays before handing duties off to offensive coordinator Thomas Brown. Reich would eventually take back the responsibilities before he was eventually fired.
Canales then entered the picture as his new head coach and play-caller the past two seasons which resulted in Young having the best season of his career in 2025 along with a playoff appearence.
