Cleveland has had a lengthy history of turnover at the position and Simpson would potentially join a quarterback room which also includes Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.
In his one season as a starter at Alabama, Simpson proved to be one of the best quarterbacks in college football. Through 15 games Simpson passed for 3,567 yards, 28 touchdowns and completed 64.5% of his passes.
Simpson is currently ranked as the No. 2 quarterback in the class behind Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza and Cleveland possesses the sixth overall pick. Three quarterback needy teams remain ahead of it which could indicate the the Browns would have to trade up in order to acquire Simpson.
Also included in the report as a possible option for Cleveland is veteran free agent quarterback Malik Willis who the franchise has interest in as well.
The 2026 NFL Draft will commence on April 23rd.
