Four new teams to watch on Giannis sweepstakes in the offseason

Facing a championship-or-bust situation, the Pistons, Spurs, Cavs and Rockets are some teams to monitor that could go after Giannis if they fail to reach this season's NBA Finals.

This season's trade saga might finally be over, but Giannis Antetokounmpo is expected to remain the primary topic across the NBA once the offseason hits.

After being subjected to countless trade rumors and speculation, no deal happened around the Greek sensation, as the Milwaukee Bucks opted to push through this year with Antetokounmpo on their side.

While the Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks would be back on track to pursue Giannis next summer via a potential trade, several new teams are also being monitored that could be in the mix for the superstar big man.

"The Heat, Warriors, Timberwolves, Lakers, possibly the Knicks and potentially others are expected to pursue a trade for Antetokounmpo this summer if he’s made available. And there’s a new wild card: An asset-rich team that didn’t pursue him before the trade deadline might rethink that if it’s ousted before the NBA Finals. That group includes Houston, San Antonio, Cleveland and Detroit," Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald wrote.

All four teams mentioned are atop the league standings and indeed gunning for an NBA title. Their plans of pursuing Antetokounmpo will certainly be dictated by how this season ends for them.

As it is, obtaining Antetokounmpo will be a massive win for any of these teams, as the 31-year-old can be the final piece in their desired championship puzzle.
