The Congolese forward couldn't ask for a better start in his new chapter outside the Golden State Warriors, as he was monstrous in leading the Hawks' 119-98 Tuesday demolition against the Washington Wizards.
In just 24 minutes of play off the bench, Kuminga went off for a team-high 27 points in 9-of-12 shooting (3-of-4 threes) with seven boards, four assists and two steals.
His 27 markers are now the Hawks franchise record for points scored by a player in a team debut, surpassing the mark that was just recently established by teammate Jock Landale (26).
It is also remarkably the most points by a Hawks player off the bench in their debut.
Despite unforeseen landing in Atlanta from the past NBA trade deadline, it appears that being in the Hawks would be a blessing in disguise for Kuminga.
