When the coaches voted for their in-game attire after the 2019-20 season resumption in the NBA Bubble, Stan Van Gundy revealed that only former Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins wanted to return to suits.
The looks of NBA coaches during games became an intriguing topic of chatter recently because of Pat Riley.
During the unveiling of his statue for the Los Angeles Lakers, Riley notably claimed that he wished coaches would go back to wearing suits and ties on the sidelines.
As it is, Riley stands as one of the most charismatic basketball figures ever, and wearing suits definitely helped him establish his iconic image.
Appearing on Run It Back, former NBA coach Stan Van Gundy dropped a major revelation regarding this discussion about coaches' in-game attire.
"Well, you know what? Coming out of COVID in the bubble, we were on a conference call with all the coaches, and there was only one coach of the 30 that wanted to go back to suits at that point," Van Gundy said.
"There were a couple sort of on the fence, but only one was firmly: Taylor Jenkins wanted to be in suits."
