Winger tipped for Liverpool–Reds to sell£60M star?–£120M attacker wanted at Liverpool

Here is a roundup of the top Liverpool news, gossip and transfer latest featuring the likes of Cody Gakpo, Christian Pulisic and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia that you guys may have missed…

Former England striker Emile Heskey has thrown his weight behind the idea of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as a viable option for Liverpool should talisman Mohamed Salah depart Anfield this summer, stepping up the growing speculation around the Egyptian’s future.

Salah’s contract situation and dip in form have intensified chatter that he could be on the move — potentially to the Saudi Pro League or MLS — triggering the need for Liverpool to identify attacking reinforcements.

Speaking to reporters, Heskey acknowledged the near‑impossible task of replacing a decade of prolific output from Salah but singled out Kvaratskhelia as his “go‑to” candidate, praising the Georgian’s flair and game‑changing ability while stressing that the Reds should “look at something different” rather than hunt for a like‑for‑like replica of Salah.

Kvaratskhelia’s stock has risen significantly since his move to Paris Saint‑Germain, where his dribbling, creativity and ability to unlock defences have made him one of Europe’s most exciting wide attackers.

While LIVERPOOL would surely demand a substantial fee for a player of that calibre, Heskey believes such a profile — one capable of producing moments of individual brilliance — could inject fresh impetus into the Merseyside attack in a post‑Salah era.

Ex-England star Heskey added: “We’re talking about replacing Mohamed Salah and I think as fans you’ve got to look at something different because you can’t replace Mo Salah.

“I remember one season I was speaking to someone who said Mo’s had a bad season. He’d scored 25 goals. I’d love to have had that bad of a season! We’re talking about someone scoring 20 plus, nearly 30 goals a season for 10 years.

“I think we’ve just got to look at something different and it might not suit the manager anyway to have someone like Mo Salah. He might want to change the formation. I know that he was talking about a 4-4-2 diamond midfield and not having high and wide wingers and that would need something different.

“I don’t think you can replace Mo Salah but I do like the lad from PSG, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. He would be my go-to.

“Would Jarrod Bowen be a downgrade from Mohamed Salah? I think most players are a downgrade compared to Salah but to be honest with you Bowen is a different type of player and he would probably help the formation because he’s going to work a little bit harder than Mo.

“I’m not saying Mo doesn’t work hard but Bowen has a different work rate and work ethic because he’s coming from West Ham and before that the lower leagues. It’s totally different.

‘Andrew Robertson was arguably one of our best signings and he came from Hull City.”

LIVERPOOL READY SELL GAKPO?

Liverpool may decide to sell Dutch winger Cody Gakpo this summer if the club can identify a suitable replacement, according to reports from Football Insider, as reports suggest suggests the Reds could be open to letting the 26‑year‑old depart.

Gakpo, who joined Liverpool from PSV Eindhoven in 2022 for a reported £40 million, has been a regular feature in Slot’s side this season but has drawn mixed reactions from supporters.

While the former PSV man has shown flashes of quality and contributed across competitions, he has not consistently replicated the high‑impact output expected on the left wing, particularly since Luis Díaz’s departure last summer.

Sources indicate that *LIVERPOOL*’s hierarchy are prepared to entertain offers for Gakpo — but only if they can bring in a “top transfer target” capable of improving the attacking unit. The club’s recruitment team is reportedly tracking multiple wide options, with names such as RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande linked as potential long‑term successors.

Arne Slot’s Stance: Will He Let Gakpo Leave?

Despite the growing speculation, manager Arne Slot appears to retain faith in Gakpo’s abilities. The Dutch forward has been selected regularly this season, suggesting Slot still values the influence he can have on the pitch.

Reports stress that it would likely take the arrival of a high‑calibre replacement to “open the door” for Gakpo’s exit — underlining that Slot’s trust in his compatriot has thus far tempered calls for an immediate sale.

Contractually, Gakpo remains tied to Liverpool until 2030, and there are no indications that he is pushing for a move. However, the club’s ambition to refresh its attacking options could mean that even a key squad member like Gakpo finds himself part of negotiations if the right deal emerges.

Where Could Gakpo End Up?

Interest from Bayern Munich has been mooted in recent days, with German outlets reporting that the Bundesliga giants are weighing up a potential £65 million approach as they seek to bolster their own wide corps. Such a move would appeal to Gakpo’s profile and provide a fresh challenge in a top European league.

Other potential suitors could arise from the Premier League or La Liga, where his experience at the top level would be highly valued. Clubs seeking a winger with strong technical ability and the capacity to play across the frontline might view Gakpo as a smart addition, especially at a fee Liverpool would expect to recoup a profit on.

Gakpo’s future seems contingent on Slot and the club identifying alternatives capable of maintaining — or enhancing — *LIVERPOOL*’s attacking threat. If they do, a significant summer exit for the Dutchman cannot be ruled out.

HESKEY SENDS PULISIC MESSAGE

Liverpool cult hero Emile Heskey believes that AC Milan star Christian Pulisic could be a useful replacement for Mohamed Salah at Anfield if the superstar decides to leave Anfield at the end of the current season.

The former LIVERPOOL striker told OLBG: “I actually quite like Christian Pulisic. He is very direct. He probably didn’t get as many goals as I would have liked him to get at Chelsea but I thought he gave defences problems.

“Obviously after a good World Cup, being at home with the pressure on him, he is definitely someone who could offer something different to Mohamed Salah or even Cody Gakpo right now.

“Mo left Chelsea to go to Italy and look at what he’s done for Liverpool. I think it’d be great to see someone like Pulisic come back into the Premier League in the same way because I’m guessing he would love to show that his time at Chelsea was just a little blip. He was only a young lad when he came over.”
