Arsenal have had preliminary talks with representatives of Rafael Le ão to discuss a summer move for the winger to North London.
Leão will have two years left on his existing deal with AC Milan at the end of this season, but the Serie A club are willing to sanction a sale if the right offer is received, with a preliminary valuation of £70m slapped on his head.
The player himself is open to a new challenge next season.
Manchester United are also interested in signing him, but Arsenal are regarded as currently the front-runners.
The Gunners have long been admirers of Leão and believe that he could be the answer to their left-side attacking issue, with neither Gavriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard totally convincing in the role this season.
Although Martinelli has scored plenty of goals in cup matches, he has only netted once in the Premier League, whilst the goals appear to have dried-up for Trossard.
