REPORT: £35M Rated Italian International 'In The Sights Of Arsenal and Manchester United'

Arsenal are still keeping close tabs on Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Gunners’ interest in the Italian international goes back several years, and the Corriere Dello Sport claim that the shot-stopper remains on their radar.

In an article profiling Carnesecchi’s form, the Italian newspaper mentioned that he is “in the sights of Arsenal and Manchester United”.

It is not known whether either team is serious about making a bid for the 25-year-old, but his asking price has reportedly been set at €40m (£35m).

Arsenal were first linked with Carnesecchi almost 6 years ago

The scouting department have been watching the keeper’s development since early 2020. At the time, the Italian was just 19 years of age, and he had yet to establish himself as Atalanta’s first-choice keeper.

It appears that he caught the attention of the Gunners after impressing during a loan spell at Serie B side Trapani, and they have kept an eye on his career since then.

Links resurfaced last season, when Carnesechhi was once again mentioned as a potential target near the end of 2024.

Man United are unlikely to pose a major threat

Although the Corriere Dello Sport do mention the Red Devils as another major suitor, it would be a surprise if they made a move for the keeper.

Senne Lammens has firmly established himself as the club’s first choice, having joined them from Antwerp last summer. The Belgian is only a couple of years younger than Carnesecchi.

There are question marks over whether Arsenal actually need a new goalkeeper as well, considering the form of David Raya, but there is no doubt that scouts and goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana are big fans of the Atalanta number one based on how long he has been watched by the club.
