After the Miami Heat fell to the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday, Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald provided a fresh update on the team’s continued interest in Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. While trade conversations stalled once the deadline passed without a deal, the possibility of talks resuming remains a major storyline heading into the offseason.
Jackson reports that Miami could assemble a sizeable trade package this summer, possibly offering as many as four first-round draft picks to land the former MVP. That level of draft assets would give the Heat significant wiggle room if the Bucks are willing to reopen trade discussions.
“Because picks more than seven years out cannot be conveyed in trades, the Heat could offer three first-round picks and a second-rounder (instead of four first-round picks) if the lottery-protected first-round pick that Miami owes Charlotte doesn’t convey until 2028,” Jackson wrote.

Many questions are still unresolved. It’s uncertain whether the Bucks will seriously engage in trade talks or if Antetokounmpo will decide to remain in Milwaukee for the foreseeable future. Additionally, competing teams could put forward stronger or more enticing proposals, which could reduce Miami’s opportunity to get back into meaningful discussions.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has spent 13 seasons with the Bucks, averaging 24.0 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 5.0 assists across 889 regular-season games. He has earned selections to nine All-Star games and collected an impressive array of accolades, including one Most Improved Player award, one Defensive Player of the Year honor, two MVP awards, one Finals MVP, and one NBA championship.
