**The match officials ahead of West Ham against Liverpool at Anfield have been revealed with a familiar name returning for the first time this season.**
The last time one of these was written, the Hammers had to endure a performance for the dreaded Simon Hooper, who seems to have a vendetta against West Ham this season, but for better… or worse, officiating the game will be Tim Robinson.
It is the first match this season for West Ham that Tim Robinson will be in charge of. The 42-year old’s last game officiated for the Hammers was against Ipswich on the final day last season, where a 3-1 victory was achieved, a good omen, dare I say.
However, off the pitch, where games can be decided through the dreaded VAR officials, it’ll be Michael Salisbury who’s presented with the wonderful opportunity to blabber on into the earpiece of Tim.
But when did Michael Salisbury last be on VAR for the Hammers, you might ponder? It was against Chelsea just a few weeks ago. The last memory Salisbury has of the Hammers is a two-goal lead that was lost, believing Adama Traore was likely in the wrong sport as well as Jean-Clair Todibo committing violent conduct. Let’s hope that the brawl against the Blues isn’t something that plays on Michael’s mind against the Reds.
It’ll need a good omen in the sky for the Hammers to secure anything at Anfield. Notoriously, Liverpool and Manchester City are the two sides against whom West Ham struggle the most, and it always appears that it is virtually impossible to achieve a good result.
Earlier in the season, the Hammers took on Liverpool at the London Stadium during Liverpool’s torrid period and we still endured a 2-0 defeat. Now, once again, Liverpool are in a period where they’ve struggled immensely and as well as being clinical in all areas of the pitch, we’ll need stars to align.
With that being said, I’m certain that with Tim and Michael officiating the game, absolutely nothing will be biased or incorrect and all fans from both parties should anticipate a totally fair refereeing performance.
