The Football Association have fined Chelsea and West Ham for 'behaving in an improper and/or provocative way' during last month's clash at Stamford Bridge. A mass brawl broke out in stoppage time of the Blues' dramatic 3-2 win when Adama Traore threw Marc Cucurella to the ground.
While the Hammers winger pleaded for a corner, Joao Pedro leapt to his teammates' defence and pushed him towards the advertising board. Traore stumbled, and began charging towards him.
Trevoh Chalobah raced onto the scene and stopped the Spaniard from getting his hands on Pedro. Jean-Clair Todibo, who was one of several players from either side to pile in, then put hands around the neck of the Chelsea striker.
The Video Assistant Referee, Michael Salisbury, and his assistant, Sian Massey-Ellis, watched back the incident from Stockley Park and requested an on-field review. After reviewing the footage on the pitch-side monitor, Anthony Taylor showed the West Ham defender a red card.

The Blues were slapped with a £325,000 fine for their role in the incident. An official statement reads: "An independent Regulatory Commission has fined Chelsea FC and West Ham United FC for the mass confrontation at their Premier League fixture on Saturday 31 January 2026.
"It was alleged that Chelsea FC failed to ensure its players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 95th minute. It was also alleged that West Ham United FC failed to ensure its players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative and/or violent way at this time.

"Both clubs subsequently admitted the charges against them. The Regulatory Commission imposed fines of £325,000 and £300,000 on Chelsea FC and West Ham United FC respectively following a hearing, and its written reasons for these decisions can be read below."
It's the third time that Chelsea have been hit with a fine by the FA this season. The Club World Cup winners were fined £150,000 for the infamous water bottle incident that occurred during the clash against Aston Villa in December 2025, and £20,000 for another incident during the clash against Fulham in January 2026.
Despite the mass brawl at the end of the game, Rosenior was proud of his side's performance against West Ham. It was the first time in Premier League history that Chelsea had come from two goals down at half-time to win a match.

"My biggest learning is there's a spirit, a fight and a resilience in this group that I really, really like," said the Blues boss. "I've demanded from the first day of stepping in.
"We don't have many training sessions, but we spoke about reacting positively to setbacks. We've spoken about reactions to losing the ball, pressing, energy, intensity.
"All of that was there in the second half, which wasn't there in the first half. I don't put that just down to the changes I made. It's very difficult. We've had so many games in a short space of time.

"I was fearful of a lack of energy and not energy or lack of application, but I felt our decision-making was really poor in the first half. When to keep the ball, when we pressed, we were just too far off it.
"West Ham were by far the better team. We had a reaction at half-time. The reaction of the team in the second half tells me that we've got something really, really special here if I can utilise the squad in the correct way."
