Cavaliers receive promising injury update on key sharpshooter

The Cleveland Cavaliers are increasingly optimistic about Max Strus' recovery from foot surgery, though no clear timetable for his return is set. He should be available for the last stretch of the regular season.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are still without sharpshooter Max Strus, but the outlook on his recovery continues to grow more optimistic.

Head coach Kenny Atkinson said Strus is "trending positive" as he works his way back from offseason foot surgery.

Atkinson added that he's been both pleased and even "surprised" by how the veteran wing has looked during on-court work.

There's still no firm timetable for his return, with 23 regular-season games remaining. Cleveland currently sits at 37-22, good for fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

Last season, the 29-year-old averaged 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game while shooting nearly 39 percent from beyond the arc.

When Strus does return, he'll join a reshaped rotation following the trade deadline additions of James Harden, Dennis Schroder, and Keon Ellis.
