Club Expecting Deal To Be Finalised In“Coming Weeks”As Arsenal Line Up Move For£17M Rated Centre-Half

Palmeiras are expecting to sell Arsenal transfer target Luis Benedetti in the “coming weeks”, according to Espiao Verde .

The X account claims to have inside sources at the Brazilian club and they report that the 19-year-old is expected to be sold, as long as a replacement can be found first.

Both the Gunners and Barcelona are said to have already had bids in the region of €10m (£8.7m) rejected for the teenager.

However, Palmeiras are holding out for a fee in the region of €20m (£17m), with the 3x Copa Libertadores winners expecting another approach from Arsenal, as well as one from Serie A side Como.

What do fans need to know about Benedetti?

The Brazilian is a centre-half by trade, but he has only made 16 senior appearances in his career, having made his debut in the Paulista State Championship against Portuguesa at the start of last year.

Benedetti made several starts for Palmeiras in Brazil’s Serie A at the end of 2025, and he also got his first senior goal against Gremio during a 3-2 defeat.

At international level, the defender has been called up for his country’s Under 20 team, but he has yet to make his first appearance.

Arsenal are not short of options at the back

If Benedetti does end up making the switch to the Emirates, he may have a challenge getting regular minutes. In addition to the first-choice centre-back partnership of William Saliba and Gabriel, manager Mikel Arteta can also call upon Cristhian Mosquera, Piero Hincapie, as well as Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori, if needed to play in the middle of the back four.

For that reason, the expectation is that Benedetti would probably be sent out on loan initially in order to gain more first-team experience.
