Arsenal are being linked with a move for a talented young Brazilian defender.
Arsenal are said to be chasing a Brazilian talent ahead of the summer as they look to put in place the next generation of stars at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners currently have a superb squad with incredible depth.
It’s difficult to remember a time where Arsenal had such competition for places across the whole squad, with Mikel Arteta having options across the board.
The possession of such a squad does put pressure on Arteta to get the job done this season, and Arsenal are currently five points clear of Manchester City at the top, albeit having played a game more at this stage. Arsenal also have to play City before the end of the season, the lead is not quite as convincing as it looks.
However the title race ends it will be interesting to see how Arsenal recruit this summer, given the strength of their squad and the lack of clear needs. By the time the summer does arrive, Arteta will surely spot an area or two where he wants his squad to improve, and he will likely have to be ruthless to carry out that mission.
But aside from a signing or two, it is likely that Arsenal will shift their focus to building the next generation, and reports claim they have been keeping an eye out for top talents in Brazil.
Palmeiras centre-back Luis Benedetti is viewed as one of those talents, with the 19-year-old centre-back having impressed with the Brazilian club’s youth age groups and now the first team. According to a fresh report, Palmeiras are preparing to sell Benedetti, with a reported asking price of £17.2million on the table.
Though, it’s claimed Palmeiras will only sell if they can find a replacement this summer, given they will be around mid-way through their season. Arsenal have been heavily linked, and it will be interesting to see if they make their move given Palmeiras are seemingly willing to sell.
