Chelsea and Tottenham have been sent a clear message over a reported target.
The agent of a reported Chelsea and Tottenham transfer target has spoken out after a reported price tag emerged this week. It’s going to be a big summer for Chelsea and Spurs, but for very different reasons.
The Blues will be looking to take the step from being top four contenders to a team that can contend for the title in the next year or two. Meanwhile, Spurs are battling relegation, and assuming they do beat it, they need to transform themselves into a side that is ready to compete for a European spot after back-to-back bottom half finishes.
Given the gap between the two clubs, it’s not too often they are both linked with the same player these days, although there was some crossover with Xavi Simons last summer, with the Dutchman eventually joining Tottenham after weeks of waiting for Chelsea to do a deal.
Fast-forward five or so months and another player is being linked with both clubs in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha. The midfielder is a key player for Dortmund, and he has been tipped for a big-money mood amid murmurings he would like to play in the Premier League, as his brother Lukas of Leeds United, already does.
On Tuesday, it was reported that Dortmund had slapped a £61million price tag on Nmecha ahead of the sumer, and the player’s agent, Tobi Alabi, has responded to that report, telling Sport Bild: “Felix still has two years left on his contract, and we fully respect that. Borussia Dortmund have played an important role in his development, and he is grateful for the trust and the platform the club have given him.
“The player is developing from season to season, and when a player performs well, there is naturally always interest and questions about his future. That’s part of top-level football and reflects the progress he has made.
“Right now, the focus is very clear: Felix is determined to give everything for Borussia Dortmund, to fight for the club and to help the team achieve its goals.”
It will be interesting to see if the transfer noise grows ahead of the summer and if either or both of the London clubs make a move.
