Arsenal buying player for€40m laughed off–Fee tears transfer claims apart

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has Viktor Gyökeres, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz as the three strikers at the Emirates.

Gyökeres has starred for the Premier League side recently, managing eight goals and two assists in this calendar year.

Havertz has struggled with injuries, forcing him to miss the first half of this season. The 26-year-old German regained fitness before suffering another setback earlier this month.

Jesus missed the first four months of this season due an injury. Since regaining full fitness in December, he has featured regularly for Arsenal, mainly as a substitute.

Sport Witness recently covered claims from Italy of AC Milan emerging as an option for the 28-year-old Brazil international. The Gunners may have a decision to make on his and Havertz’s futures in the coming months.

It’s unclear what Arteta and his side plan to do with the former Manchester City man and the Germany international. Meanwhile, Arsenal are reportedly in the picture to sign RC Lens striker Rayan Fofana.

The latest claims from the UK have reported Arsenal adding the 20-year-old to their target list.

In addition to the Gunners, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also monitoring the striker. These claims also reported of a €40m price for the Paris-born player.

Allez Lens, a website dedicating their coverage to the Ligue 1 side, relay it and then give their own take on this case.

Why Arsenal claims are seen as nonsense

The outlet says it’s quite possible the north London club are looking at Rayan Fofana. This is not a far-fetched idea, considering clubs across Europe send their scouts to follow players with high potential.

However, Allez Lens claim the ‘information loses all credibility when the figure of €40m is mentioned’.

According to the report, €40m is a ‘surreal sum’ for a young striker who still has a lot to prove. Therefore, Allez Lens insist the latest claims of Arsenal, Chelsea and others have to be ‘taken with a grain of salt’.

Rayan Fofana is a product of from the French club’s youth system and made his way into their first team in 2025. He played 24 matches so far, managing six goals and an assist. It’s no surprise Allez Lens are trying to calm things down.
